how can you model a problem that involves emptying a tank filled with water from a opening whose area is time dependent.
suppose,
height of tank = 30m
area of rec hole (a)=w x b (width x opening height)
where b=f(t) say b=2t^2 and a=10 meters
the rect. hole is situated on the lateral side of the tank and not at the bottom.
So my guess is that the velocity of the fluid at each point of the opening along b must be different
